Professional Experience
Since qualifying as a nurse over 15 years ago, Niki has worked
within the National Health Service, both in acute hospital settings and with people in their own homes. During this time she
focused primarily on helping people overcome serious illnesses such as schizophrenia and bi-polar disorder but interestingly
found it was experiences such as high anxiety or depression that people wanted the most help with.
As her interest
and experience in this area grew, she contributed to the innovative development of services for young people experiencing
their first episode of psychosis where the focus was on helping them get back to school, college or work and live independently.
During this time she also studied at one of this country's Centres of Excellence for CBT training ~ Newcastle
Centre for Cognitive & Behavioural Psychotherapies ~ and since then she has worked exclusively as a Cognitive Behaviour
Therapist within the NHS. In the past five years she has successfully developed her own private practice and in addition offers
supervision and mentorship to others training in CBT or working within the field. She is also accredited with the BABCP
as a Supervisor and Trainer. She now has Associate therapists who see clients for her on a consultancy basis to help
provide the service she originally envisaged - one with flexibility and immediate accessibility for people who want help when
they decide they want it, not when the service dictates.
